Tasting Notes:

Fresh orange peels lend a zesty vibe to summer melon and peach flavors in this decadent, sun-kissed Riesling. It's so delicate in texture, it's as if gossamer layers of acid and sweetness could dance on the palate, but the finish lingers long with a streak of honey, wax and lanolin. Delicious now, but it's components should meld gorgeously from 2017 and on.

The Riesling-Estate »Dr. Hermann« with more than 9 hectares of vineyards is managed by Rudi Hermann and his son Christian. Winegrowing has been a tradition in the Hermann family for several hundred years. The present estate was created in 1967 when the renowned estate Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben in Ürzig was divided for inheritance reasons. Christian's grandfather, the medical Dr. Hermann, founded his own wine estate with his share of the vineyards.

The Hermanns concentrate on the production of Riesling wines on the steep rock slopes of the famous vineyards of the »Erdener Prälat«, »Erdener Treppchen« and the »Ürziger Würzgarten«. In all their vineyards they grow exclusively ungrafted Riesling stock which deliver the finest Riesling wines. These vineyards have a tradition among the oldest in the world - high quality wine was produced here by the Romans almost 2000 years ago.

After a slow fermentation process of 6 to 12 weeks in stainless steel tanks, the wines are allowed to mature on the fine yeast. This conserves their aromas and a long lasting freshness.
