Tasting Notes:

This wine is garnet in colour, with a deep ruby rim. Hints of red roses on the nose are followed by red berry fruits, a waft of hay, red currants and a suggestion of prunes. The palate is juicy, with fine elegant tannins. Complex flavours range from sweet, generous red fruits to the dried fruits of Christmas, from anise and fennel to gunpowder. The medium-bodied wine finishes with a whiff of black pepper.

Laurel van Coller was born in Tulbagh and has always remained a true \'Bolander\' by heart. He started his school education in the Cape after which he continued his tertiary education in Pretoria where he completed his medical degree and specialised as an anaesthetist. Laurel always wanted move back to the Cape and finally made the move 12 years ago. Laurel and his wife, Veronique (also a doctor, whom he met while studying) bought the property and renamed the estate Fijndraai to add a bit of quirkiness to it all. Together the pair started building a life-long dream. They opened an equestrian centre on the estate (now a stud farm) and started producing wine and olive oil.

The vineyards are gazed upon by the Stellenbosch Mountains where the distinct meso-climate is ideally suited for Mediterranean varietals.
